i just came back from downtown with my brother, i went to do an anthropology assignement which was basically people watching and writing down everything i observed for an hour!

i went to a little cafe called rocket and sat down with an iced latte and a cupcake and wrote and wrote and wrote.

then, when the hour was up, i went to meet my brother.

and oh my gosh.

i got a little sidetracked by a new vintage shop that just opened two months ago, and i had never been to before

as soon as i walked in the owner had just unpacked a box from upstate new york and this gorgeous perfect little sailor dress was just hanging there, calling my name. it fits like a dream and is the cutest thing in the world and i am so so happy i snapped it up!

i also got this vintage (?) oscar de la renta hot pink with black polka dots blouse, it's sort of shiny and a little too big but i love love love it. it's slouchy and perfect to tuck in to jeans or pants and ohhhh i'm so in love!

this week is going to be super busy for me, i have a ton of schoolwork due and to do - tests and papers and interviews.

but!

i do have a few little posts lined up, a little a-z and pictures from my visit home on thanksgiving, so hopefully they'll be up over the next few days!

it's almost fall and i haven't posted since summer! but i have been incredibly busy and extremely happy so i think that's okay.

first thing's first, i'm back to school! and i am absolutely loving every single minute of it. late august i realized i had had enough of working my horrible job every day and was yearning to go back to school and actually learn this time around. so here i am, taking five courses toward and english degree with a french minor! my classes are amazing. shakespeare, ancient egyptian history, french, anthropology and psychology. could it get any better?

i also got a job at the school bookstore, which i love love love.

these pictures are from the last little while. made a trip to my cabin with my mom and brother. we played cards and boardgames and trivia, baked a cherry chip cake and ate it with whipped cream, took pictures of the sunset and curled up inside away from the rain and wind and watched funny movies all night long (i forgot how much i loved bridget jones' diary).

i ombred my hair recently, i'll do a post soon with pictures of it. i'm always wanting to change my hair, but not get it cut (it's a fear of mine) and not color it permanently. so this was a nice compromise!

this post is getting a bit wordy and long now but i wanted to update you all and tell you that i hope to be around more now that fall is here and i'm getting settled into school again. i'm sorry for being away for such a long time but i think i needed a little blogging break! i've been reading all your blogs daily, getting inspiration for my life and i love it. i'll begin commenting again now as well.

chocolate hazelnut butter and the sweetest mail

hello hello dolls!

oh i just have to start by saying i am so happy today. i am bursting with it. good music, good weather and good company have all contributed to this day, and i am absolutely loving it.

i went on a little thrifting adventure, walked all around the city by myself and then hiked signal hill with my brother. it was wonderful.

this little post is to share with you a recipe for chocolate hazelnut butter and a gorgeous package i received a few weeks ago that i've yet to share!

for the chocolate hazelnut butter i followed this recipe. it was super simple.

you basically toast hazelnuts for a few minutes until they smell amazing, then whir them away in the food processor until they're nut-buttery.

then you add some cocoa powder, a bit of oil and a bit of honey and whir a bit more and voila! delicious chocolate hazelnut butter. my only complaint about this recipe is it didn't make enough! i will definitely be doubling it next time.

i pretty much ate most of it straight from the little jar with a spoon. but some of it made it on top of my oats a few mornings, and i did microwave a wrap with peanut butter and the chocolate hazelnut butter which, needless to say, was unreal.

now onto my package! the ever so lovely sarah sent me this a few weeks ago and i can't say i wasn't like a kid at christmas when i got the postal slip in my mailbox to go pick it up.

i was at a coffee shop right after i went to the post office and picked it up and was going to wait until i got home to open it but i literally could not, haha. so i opened it while sipping a caramel macchiato and every time i pulled something new out i was happier and happier!

sarah sent me a lovely card, a little notebook (which i'm still trying to decide what to use it for! i'm so fussy about new notebooks), a tiny polaroid of her hanging paper cranes, a lovely notecard and envelope and a bunch of paper cranes for myself! they're on all different patterned paper and i can't wait to hang them in my room like she has done in the little polaroid.

i have to take a minute here and thank sarah for this beautiful package. over the past few months she has become one of my closest blog friends and i absolutely adore reading her blog whenever she updates. we also follow one another on twitter now, and i have to thank modern technology's brilliance for allowing two people who live so far apart to be able to connect like we have! it's magical. so thank you a million times sarah for being such a great friend and loyal reader.

and i have to say thank you to everyone else who shows up here too. it blows my mind that people read this, it really does! i get so excited to discover new blogs and meet new people.

my happy day has turned me into a sap, it would seem.

summer reads so far

1. sophie kinsella can you keep a secret

i've read this book every summer for the past few years. it's light and funny and i love sophie kinsella's writing, her character's are charming and endearing albeit slightly dimwitted at times. but that only makes them more loveable!

2. gretchen rubin the happiness project

i picked this up on a whim one day and read it in one sitting. i. loved. it. everything about it. it made me want to better myself, in the same way eat, pray, love did when i first read it, which is always a good thing.

3. elizabeth hay a student of weather

this book took me a while to get into. her writing is lovely but i found it a bit slow at times. it was a lovely story in the end, i never knew what to expect at all as it was recommended to me by a friend but i didn't have much of an idea what it was about. the story of the sisters is kind of a sad one. maybe sad isn't the right word. i'm not sure. i did like this book quite a bit though. it left me with a feeling. i don't know what feeling exactly. okay i'm making no sense now. i did try to read another of her books, garbo laughs, and just could not get into it.

4. lauren conrad sweet little lies

oh my. we all know this is fluff. but i wanted a quick, girly summer read so i borrowed this one from the library and sat out front tanning my legs and read it. it is basically exactly like the hills, mindless entertainment. that doesn't meant i didn't like it though!

5. kathryn stockett the help

i cannot say enough good things about this book, although i'm sure you've all probably heard plenty by now. it was wonderful. the story is amazing. if you read one book this summer it should be this one! (i realize it says something similar on the cover of the book, but it is very very true.)

6. beth harbison thin rich pretty

i picked this one up because it was $4.99 on the sale table at chapters. it was a cute little story! sort of predictable but a light summer read. you can probably tell by now that is mostly what i read during the summer - girly, easy to read novels.

7. sara gruen water for elephants

this was wonderful. oh my gosh. i wasn't sure what to expect from it, exactly. but what i got was surprising. i loved jacob. he was an amazing character. i was going to see this movie when it came out just for something to see, and i ended up not going for some reason. i am so, so glad i didn't go and read the book first! now i can't wait to see the movie even more.

8. hilary kerr & katherine power what to wear, where

i was browsing the fashion section at the bookstore and saw this and it caught my eye. the clothes are so cute! and i love the reasoning behind each outfit they chose and the accessories and everything. there really is a guide for every occasion you can think of in there!

at the moment i'm reading identical strangers by elyse schein and payla bernstein. it's so interesting! it's about twins who were put up for adoption at birth and then were adopted into different families. there's so many interesting twin facts in here which is totally fascinating to me - probably because of my obsession with the olsens as a kid and wanting to have a twin of my own.

now, these pictures have nothing to do with sunday (they're the cupcakes from the previous post dressed up all pretty!) but i actually didn't take any photos on sunday (only with my disposable camera) and wanted to do a summary of my day anyways. so here goes! and prepare for cupcake overload!

woke up super super early with quite a bad headache :(

had a delish bowl of oats with tons of cinnamon and banana

worked until five

attempted to go minigolfing with pat, but neither of us had cash and his bank card wouldn't work because he was playing with magnets earlier (seriously, who plays with magnets?)

ended up renting the king's speech and watching it at his house. well, i watched half and then fell asleep.

came home, chatted to samantha, read a bit of identical strangers and then went to bed!

it was a good day.

tonight i'm going to see super 8 after work! i've heard good things, i'm pretty excited.

my friend emma's birthday is today so i baked some cupcakes for her party tomorrow night.

(of course i had to taste test one, you know, to make sure they tasted fine!)

they're not frosted yet, but i'm thinking pink buttercream is in their future.

cast photos and a graduation

ahhhhh!! i'm so sorry i've been away for so long again! i started a second job and have met so many new people so between work and going out (in addition to losing my internet for two weeks) i haven't been on the computer much. and sadly i haven't been taking many photos lately either.

ismene was a success! we had a great turnout for the shows and every night was flawless. it was an amazing experience, the people i worked with were all unbelievable actors. (yes, i was in pajamas for 99% of the show. and yes, it was as awesome as it sounds).

mike, the only guy in the show, had the second largest role - and it was only his second play ever! he was also in the fights with me, and he had only three lines in that play in january. to say he is talented is an understatement!

we had a pretty low-key cast party involving chips, salsa, skittles and of course some celebration champagne. i'm always sad to stop working with people at the end of a show's run, but at the same time i am grateful for all that i learned from them and start to look forward to new auditions and new plays in the future.

i recently sent in my resume and head shot to a company filming in newfoundland in the fall, so i'm hoping to hear back within the next few days whether or not i'll get an audition! fingers crossed!

in addition to the play, another exciting thing happened recently - my brother graduated from medical school and is now officially a doctor! i'm so proud of him it's ridiculous. he is the most well adapted guy i know, he is an amazing student and hard worker but also knows how to have a really good time. he's currently in nashville for bonnaroo.. receiving his texts about the country music award red carpet (which he was across the street from) and knowing he's seen amazing performers like florence and the machine, mumford and sons, arcade fire, robyn, eminem.. (the list goes on and on forever) makes me incredibly jealous. but of course i'm happy for him, he really has his life on track and i can only hope someday i'm as well traveled and set as he is!

my family all came in for the graduation and we had several nights and days of fun together. it was the longest my parents have visited in quite a while so i really loved it.

(sorry for the photos with the little yellow date - i didn't have my camera with me and borrowed my aunt's pictures from facebook! but it was too important an event not to share :)

i'm going to stop here because this post is getting a bit long!

i do have another post planned for as soon as possible - the lovely sarah sent me the most beautiful package and i can't wait to show it to you! it made my day, so i'll be back soon with that.

what's in my bag + ismene

hi dolls!

i figured since i showed you my lovely new bag last week, this week i would show you what's usually inside it!

i absolutely love "what's in my bag" blog posts. it's so fascinating to me!

my bag is usually used to tote things back and forth to work and rehearsal, so it has to be big and roomy. generally if i'm using a purse i like a slouchy cross shoulder bag with pockets and tons of space.

so, from top left across here's what you see:

1. the bag itself

2. the script for the play i'm currently doing (more on that soon!)

3. a little notebook in which i jot down things that make me happy

4. a disposable camera

5. my everyday notebook full of lists of things to do, character notes, money charts etc. maybe i should do a what's in my notebook post next ;) plus a pencil for writing (not a big pen fan normally!)

now i want to talk about the play i'm currently doing, which i've gotten a few questions about!

the play is called ismene, by jeremy menekseoglu. here's a little bit about it taken from the official site:

ismene is a play written by jeremy menekseoglu, soon to be featured in eight cities around the world. based on a new chapter in the stories of lesser-known heroines in greek theater and mythology, ismene is the tale of a young woman who is sent away to a school for arktoi (unruly children) in the wake of great tragedy. fate comes knocking in the form of a deadly chorus, and ismene is trapped inside the school with four other fierce women. will they fight their fate or give in to their tragedies once and for all?

we've been rehearsing for about a month now, and the play is unlike any i've ever done. we are setting it in an old school, and making use of every floor and most of the rooms. the play is a traveling play, so the limited audience walks around with the action as opposed to just being sat in a theatre for two hours. it's exciting! the women i'm working with are unbelievably talented and i've learned so much from them. i play erin, a stubborn, proud, impish girl who believes her mother was one of the ancient erinyes.

a new tote

a beautiful package came for me the other day, i was so so happy to open my mailbox and see this waiting for me inside!

it took all my strength not to open it right away but i wanted to photograph the lovely way it was packaged first!

it's fieldguided's there is thunder in our hearts tote. i've had my eye on it for quite a while and finally it is mine! i haven't gone out without it yet.

today i had brunch with my brother and cousin at the same place we went last sunday. it was nice to catch up, i hadn't seen my cousin in weeks! afterwards i had rehearsal for five hours - the time flew! i had a little break for a half hour so i walked downtown and got an iced coffee. i wish i could have had more time to wander downtown in the shops but i had to hurry back. it started to rain just as i was getting back to the theatre - i made it just in time!

tomorrow's agenda is packed once again - i have an early interview, rehearsal and then work all day!

i don't know if i've mentioned it here before, but breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

early mornings, waking up at six am when the sunlight is glowing and just beginning to slant in through the windows. time i have all to myself, before the world truly wakes up and begins bustling around. i take my time to make breakfast, prepare it just for me, make it pretty so i have something in front of me that tastes just as delicious as it looks.

i catch up on reading as i have my breakfast, blogs or books or scripts. i curl up on the couch or set myself a place at the table and just sit, and eat, and savour the moment.

i just finished this book. i read it years ago but forgot how haunting it was. it's a really lovely book, full of twisted fairy-tales and creatures. i really recommend reading it if you haven't yet!

while speaking of books, this is one that i've had on my wishlist for a few months now. after reading the book of lost things it has only made me want it even more!

i spent my week folding paper cranes and watching breakfast at tiffany's.

i wish for a secret admirer on valentine's day. maybe if i fold a thousand cranes by then it will happen. flowers and chocolates and feather dreamcatchers at my door the week leading up to february 14th. a girl can dream, right?

did you notice i have a new blog layout? i spend hours one night this week redesigning and trying to figure out what i wanted it to look like here and voila! this is what happened.

today i got a card in the mail from my mom, she send me old pictures of me and my friend and cut out penguins and birds and glued them on the inside. i love it, it made me happy to get something in my mailbox, other than bills.

i have rehearsal all weekend long! lots of singing and dancing. i'm watching a movie tonight and going to a show tomorrow night. the snow won't stop me!

i've been eating frozen grapes like they're going out of style. this guy was a monster!

this video is beautiful. kids are so free, i love it. i want that infinite abyss of imagination and possibilities back.

i told you i had some exciting news - over christmas i got cast in two plays! i auditioned in november and had given up on getting a callback, let alone a part, let alone two parts - and then within the span of four days i got offered two roles!
one is a minor role as a burlesque dancer (ooh!) in an 1870's piece called the fights. the other is major role as a girl named erin in an oedipus/antigone type spinoff called ismene!

i can't even tell you how excited i am for both. i've already had three rehearsals for the fights, and everyone is so amazing and i'm so ridiculously happy to be acting again. the play opens in two and a half weeks and runs 6 shows in 5 nights. ahhh i could talk about it all day!

sorry for the somewhat sporadic post, i'm getting a little stir crazy in my apartment. luckily i had a coffee break with my girls from home tonight. i wish i'd taken pictures, the cafe is gorgeous with red walls and a giant gold mirror and it was so nice to be with friends.

i have a few post ideas lined up for january - just a matter of getting them done!

hi my lovely little reindeer!

so cheesy, i know ;)

well it has definitely been too long since i last blogged. oops!

not too much has happened since i wrote about halifax - except i went home for a week and it was so so amazing.

i baked, and cleaned, and ate homecooked meals, and saw a santa parade (i didn't take my camera though, which is a shame because it was a really nice parade!).

i cut out my gingerbread houses and glued them together, but i'm saving them to decorate for when my brother is home. our gingerbread houses usually end up looking kind of crazy, but i looove them.

i made some big decisions that i'll probably share after christmas. they are good decisions though, and i'm a lot happier because of them.

i almost forgot about the questions you asked me!

here we go:

emma asked: who's your ultimate style icon?

to be honest, this is kind of a tough question for me! i admire a lot of styles. i do love rachel bilson's style though, as well as vanessa hudgens. i like casual styles, not too much fuss, but still cute and put together!

sarah asked what's your favorite snack?

this is a hard one too. i'm totttttally a snacky person. i love cookies, pretty much any kind. i love ice cream in the summer. i love dark chocolate, especially mint. i love peanut butter + nutella wraps too. fruit is always a yummy snack, especially bananas and pineapple. i could go on and on haha :)

answer my dream asked 1. who do you look up to/who inspires you?
2. what's the best book you've ever read?
3. what are your favourite things to do on a lazy day? (apart from the obvious of being lazy)

1. i look up to people who do what they love passionately. people who are honest, and strong, and know who they are and the type of person they want to be. i strive to be that person some day.

2. the best book ever? my go-to answer for this seems to always be extremely loud and incredibly close by jonathon safran foer, because i find something new every time i read that and as cheesy as it sounds it really moves me. but of course i'm going to have to mention harry potter as well, i grew up with that series as i know so many others did, and i really can't not mention those either.

3. on lazy days i love reading blogs, watching tv/movies, journaling, napping, creating things and baking!

rebecca asked if you could visit anywhere in the world for a week to explore and discover the culture, where would you go?

there are so, so many places i want to go in the world. i have not done nearly as much traveling as i would like, and i'm hoping my twenties will allow me to do much more. i think i would have to say greece, though. i am fascinated by greek history and mythology, and would love to have the chance to experience it firsthand and see the sights i've read about in books and learned about in school.

i like it in the city when two worlds collide

i'm back with the rest of my pictures from halifax!

we took a walk down by the waterfront. it was so so so cold but beautiful there.

kept an eye open for sailors of course ;)

the next day was a lot warmer, we walked into the city and went to a park which was so beautiful, the fall colors were gorgeous! and look at that bridge and little house, it's like something from the movie a fairy tale. do you remember that? i used to own it, but i'm not sure if i have a copy anywhere anymore. it was such a lovely movie!

had to keep the trees from falling down!

we stopped into second cup and sat in the window seats. the seats were eye level with the street, so we could people watch and sit in the warm sun!

mint chocolate chiller. delicious.

we may or may not have made another trip to susie's.. and i may or may not have gotten three shortbread cookies. macadamia, coconut and original frosted. they were delish!

after, since it was so nice out, we walked up to the halifax citadel. it was so beautiful and warm, and you can look out over the city and the harbour.

..i also may or may not have bought four cupcakes to take home. but they weren't all for me! i got jason a peanut butter cupcake and a susie's original, we split a gingerbread one and, well, i did eat a whole coconut one myself. what can i say, i love coconut. and cupcakes. obviously.

on my last night there, samantha and i made paper chains and snowflakes to decorate her apartment for christmas, and we baked shortbread cookies!

i want to go back.

i'm making a lot of big decisions right now, and i want to go home. it's tough trying to stick out this semester. i've been talking to my sister a lot, which helps.

tonight i am sitting at home with some hot chocolate. i made a little owl picture and watched 500 days of summer.

cupcakes and city walks

i'm back!

my trip to halifax was amazing. i got to spend four days with two of my close friends and get out of this city for a little while.

i took loads of pictures, so i'm going to save some for another post!

we did loads when i was there, including visiting this little cupcake shop called susie's shortbread. it is so pink and cute in there, and the cupcakes are delicious! the one pictured is a susie's original, and i liked it so much i got another one to take home with me (but more on that with my next post)

we walked around the city a lot, my friends samantha and ashley (and their roommate, kayla) live right on the waterfront and so everything was within walking distance which was so good!

we went to this cute little store called love, me. it sold homemade crafts from local artists.

isn't this key wall amazing? i have some old keys but they are all on a ring, i would love to have a bunch all on the wall seperately like this!

downtown was starting to get all decorated for christmas. i am so excited for december to come and more specifically for this semester to be over and to go home, finally.

this is the girl's cat, chloe. she was very snuggly and also very fat haha

finally, more cupcakes! we baked these my second night there (as if we already hadn't had enough sugar). we dyed the batter so it was rainbow inside!

i am going to see harry potter and the deathly hallows at the midnight showing tonight and i could not be more excited!! me and jason are going with our friend kris and his roommates. i've been waiting for this forever it feels like!

it was jason's birthday last week!
we went for sushi, opened presents, ate yummy cupcakes and watched harry potter.

it was a good day :)

last night i went to some halloween parties!
i saw a peacock, popeye, mario and luigi, dorothy, clifford the big red dog, pebbles and bam bam!

i was an owl.

i made my costume out of an old dress and hand-cut feathers. the mask took me ages to get right.

i might wear feathers in my hair every day now, i love them.

tonight i'm watching a scary movie and hopefully handing out treats to little trick-or-treaters! i'm not sure if we'll get very many, but i really hope so. i love seeing little halloween costumes!

the wind here is blowing and blowing, it's kind of scary and perfectly halloweeny.

good morning!

well, hurricane igor hit newfoundland on tuesday and kind of made a mess of our province. trees down, heat and lights gone, roads washed out - it was madness. it left a lot of people stranded in certain areas of the province - not cool igor. not cool.

my apartment is fine aside from the fact that we still don't have complete power back (only some outlets work, we have no fridge, no stove, no overhead lights and no heat). so that kind of sucks, but it definitely could have been worse.

i also broke my camera last week so i didn't take many pictures at all unfortunately. but it's fixed now, so, yay!

since i don't have many pictures to show you, i figured i'd make a post of things i love that i've found lately. it's been a while since i've had a favs post.

on friday, i skipped my last two classes.

it was too nice out and there was too many things i wanted to do.

so me and jason walked to the mall!

we saw a feather (actually we saw a million but i didn't think a million picutres of feathers would be very interesting).

jason got a burger and i stole his fries, of course.

then we split a blizzard. of course.

now for the fun part!

we went to chapters on a mission i came up with.

the mission was this:

we each had ten minutes to find a book for the other that looked/sounded interesting.

when the ten minutes was up we met in the center of the store and switched books.

then, we had another ten minutes to skim through the book and find parts that seemed interesting.

then we met again and read them to each other!

this was the book i picked for jason. he read a passage about smelly socks and another that i don't remember.

this is the book jason picked for me, which i actually loved when i was skimming through.

i read a paragraph about a man being picked up by an elephant and another about a man who used to be a really esteemed portrait artist but times were hard and he had to resort to painting portraits of people's pets (hello alliteration!) i think pet portraits are better than people portraits.

so that was friday. saturday was rainy and i bought some pretty fall things.

sunday i went for a hike and napped and went to a flea market and bought the most beautiful plate you have ever seen.

i'll put pictures of those up later.

now that i'm thinking about it, a million pictures of feathers would be very interesting.

a sunday spent baking

on sunday jason wasn't feeling too happy so i baked him a batch of martha stewart chocolate chip cookies! they were chewy and chocolatey and sort of tasted like pancakes. he ate them all (except for one that i may or may not have grabbed hot out of the oven), so i take it they were good!

later last night i made coconut cookies for myself. unfortunately i can't be trusted around cookie dough and ate waaay too much while waiting for the first batch to bake, then ate another cookie when they were done! oops ;) i froze over half of them so no more cookie grabbing for me!

i have more to post from the weekend but for now i'll leave you with these pictures of the cookies i did up in a little package for my frowny boyfriend.

hi dolls!

i'm finally settled in my new apartment in the city. i looooove it here, it's pretty freakin' adorable. i've started school and like all my classes except for one. it's in english grammar and sentence structure.. i fell asleep in my second class. oops ;) but i love all my other classes; i'm taking newfoundland folklore, german history, modern european history and shakespeare! looove.

my days here in the city have been spent walking around exploring downtown, getting caught in the rain, decorating and unpacking, making lottttss of yummy food, naps naps naps, shopping at thrift stores and the mall, trying to find my way around campus and loooving the city i now live in!

it's pretty dreary out, so i woke up early (very early - 6:30!) and put some apple-cinnamon-raisin oatmeal in the oven. by the time my house had heated up, so had my oatmeal!

i bought these four tiny bottles at an art rummage sale. what should i fill them up with? glitter stars? wishes? whispered secrets? what would you fill them with?

i also bought these two photo frames and some tiny paper doilies. some tiny brown paper bags and a box of drawing charcoal. so many goodies, my room is full to the brim!

we found a tiny vintage chalkboard at my nan's house and have taken to writing love notes for each other to leave behind. it's so fun, and sweet, and the chalkboard looks perfect anywhere you put it.

we build tiny creatures out of clay, like this little robot with the pink heart of gold. he hides in little corners and on my desk while i write papers about the renaissance.

i can't wait to be finished my finals to go home for christmas. i was home last week, baking ginberbread and shortbread and peanut honey bees and peanut butter balls and caramel truffles and gingerstar kisses. i finish school and go home wednesday for 3 weeks and it couldn't come sooner.
saturday i'm going to a concert, monday i see all my friends, tuesday i go to an awards ceremony, wednesday i have a six-month anniversary homemmade dinner date, thursday is christmas eve which brings a very special gift exchange and stocking hanging, and then it is christmas day and i will give presents and open presents and it will be magical.

it snowed on the first of december! so beautiful, everything is white and soft now. there are still dogberries on the trees. the red looks lovely covered in white.
i am going home on friday for a week before exams. to cuddle and watch christmas movies and decorate trees and bake gingerbread and walk in the snow and have snowflake eyelashes and snowstorm kisses.
sorry that picture is so terrible, i didn't have my camera when i went for coffee and had to use my blackberry. i had a delicious sugar cookie covered in pink sparkles and a hot candy cane milk. it was delicious, but i ate too much cookie and drank too much milk and hurt my little tummy. how does santa do it?

finally, finally, home for a weekend. a short two-night stay. but it was worth the eight hours of travel, even for such a little bit of time.

new coat, new shirts, endless kisses and hugs and cuddles. homemade meals: cooked dinner, pea soup, arrowroot dessert, shortbread cookies, yummy noodles.

walks in the woods to hidden places with tall grass and big trees. autumn cold, bundled in mittens and scarves. handholding to stay warm.

hello lovelies!
i finally have a minute to catch my breath and tell you about my summer months. i had such an amazing, amazing summer. filled with days at the beach, with friends, dates with my boyfriend, early morning flowers, suntanning, swimming, mini roadtrips, reading in the hot hot sun, an amazing job, dinner theatres.. you name it, i did it!

i'll start with a day early in july. i went to a town a little bit away from my home for a music festival, and ended up having one of my best days the whole summer. we ended up spending the day going to beaches and exploring an old mill, to a magical restaurant and a new friends house for a treat.
whimsicals is the name of the restaurant we ate at. it was so so charming. i had a lovely garden salad and sat in a booth looking over the ocean, next to a huge window that had the glass taken out so we could feel the saltwater breeze as we ate.

there was a little shop in the restaurant, which had trinkets and charms in every single nook and cranny. it was beautiful. fairy lights on a tree, dainty dishes, beautiful mirrors, handmade necklaces and bracelets and earrings, sweets.. it was a magical little shop.

i worked at a dinner theatre during the summer, which was the perfect job. working with the same people - plus two new ones - two summers in a row is an amazing experience. we were so so close and spent almost all our time together both in and out of work. we did three seperate theatres, a 1950's murder mystery, a newfoundland love story and a sketch show! they were each different and equally as loved by the audiences. we did over 20 shows the entire summer, most to full audiences!

my brother came home for a few nights after his trip to europe, and we went and spent a night in english harbour, in a summer home of a family friend. we went whale and dolphin watching, saw puffins, and traveled to many many tiny towns in rural newfoundland. in just one morning we were in eleven different towns! the scenery is absolutely beautiful..

not to mention the house we stayed in! it was hundreds of years old, filled with a mix of old and new things. each room in the upstairs had different wallpaper, old beds and books and mirrors. i absolutely love it there. i could spend all my time exploring it's corners and closets, seeing what treasures i could find.

i also was busy journalling and painting and cd-mixing this summer. i made three mix cd's for my boyfriend, began to collage again and did up a package (that was very very late!) for my penpal. i also woke up one morning to a beautiful beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to my door with a message that said "just wanted to say good morning, i love you". so so sweet! and it had my favorite flowers - orchids and lilys - amongst other beautiful, colorful flowers.

now summer is coming to a close. my friends have started to leave to go back to uni one by one. i am the last to go, staying a week later then everyone else. i will miss them and this summer so much. but it was a perfect summer. i hope yours was just as amazing and sun-filled as mine.

i am so so so so sorry!
i have not updated in so so long, and i still cannot update a proper post right this minute.
i'm loving being on summer break, i have a french visitor and we're going on adventures through the woods and eating tutti fruitti ice cream.
i have not commented in forever and i am so sorry, but once june comes i hope to be able to catch up as best i can!

i have a secret love for rachel bilson.

well. maybe it isn't so secret.

she's so tiny and sweet, i just want to put her on a shelf (and maybe steal her wardrobe!)

her clothes are so cute and casual, with a bohemian vibe and whether she's at a fashion show or getting dinner with friends she looks adorable and put together.

if i could have any wardrobe i think it would be hers!

hello loves! i've been gone for so long it feels.

my last two weeks have been full. stress. excitement. tears. smiles. and laughter. i had so many things due for school i felt constantly stressed and worried. i still am, to be honest. i have so many things due and wait until you hear my weekend plans! you'll understand why i'm so worried.

but i'll start with last week: i got to go home!! for five days. it was wonderful. old friends, friends i haven't seen in eight months! reunions. parties. giggles. desserts. we visited my old high school and saw our old teachers. i watched a rehearsal for the musical the school is doing. high school musical! call me silly but those movies make me smile. especially the third.

desserts, oh the desserts! so many. coconut balls, peanut butter mice, oatmeal raisin cookies, cupcakes with sprinkles and pink frosting, strawberry trifle, pistachio layer. and cheesecake! but i only had a teeny of each. i went to a dessert party and had a pina colada, it was so yummy. i laid in my warm bed cuddled under my duvet with my puppy. i wore new slippers that my aunt knit for me.

my mom also took me shopping!! it was such a treat, she was so happy to buy me things. i got a new purple cardi, a lovely brown ruffly flowered shirt, two plain white tanks, jeans, a plain white t and new gym pants! and also a yoga mat and weights.

i was so sad to leave. i won't see my friend for another five months. there were many tears when we said goodbye to each other. leaving is always so sad. and i didn't want to return to uni.. knowing i had so many books to read and papers to write. i cried and cried.
but i didn't have time to be sad once i got back i was so busy! classes and papers due. rehearsals. props. blocking. the gym. pilates. and finally: a concert!

i went to see a concert at the ski resort last night. the novaks, matt mays and el torpedo and hey rosetta! hey rosetta were wonderful. the lead is a cutie! i was at the very front. we almost froze our little toes off waiting to get it but it was worth it. but oh, how tired i was once i got back to my room, and so late. my poor poor legs. i got a nice seafom tshirt though, and two pins!

it's a bit wrinky here, but i took this right as it came out of my purse so that's why! and the cardi my mom bought me.

when i checked my postbox when i got back, i had two envelopes for me! one from felicia and one from sophie!

felicia's was a silly birthday card and sophie's was the first letter i've gotten from her since we became pen pals! i was so excited and her package was so sweet. a letter on fairy garden paper, two lovely velvet bookmarks, a teeny fortune and the cutest cupcake stickers ever seen! oh i love mail so so much.

this weekend i am volunteering for the east coast music awards, which are here this year. i'm called a talent wrangler, which is a silly little name that makes me think of horses, but i get to work with the bands making sure they go onstage and to makeup and to rehearsal on time! i'm very excited. and i will be working the actual award show too, and then going to the after party. i feel like i am very important!

i have so so much work due. i know it's a bore to hear me blather on and on about what i have due but it is a huge part of my life right now. i have fourteen things due this month. fourteen! and that is on top of preparing and performing a scene for acting class. i'm very stressed. i'm actually looking forward to april, when my finals are, because they don't stress me as much as papers and midterms and such. oh my. uni is not all that fun, sometimes.

i can't leave without showing you these beautiful photos endofmarch posted on her livejournal. aren't the colors beautiful? they're so soft and pastel-y yet bright.

well, that's all! i should go do some more work.. i have to volunteer again at eleven tomorrow morning. oh my, i don't have time for anything these days!
