setting firecrackers off on the front lawn

happy new year!
2008 was: a cd for jamie, polaroids of trees, boys, breakups, secret drawings, theatre auditions, bird mirrors, shakespeare, dance, graduation, pink sparkle dresses, new room, turquoise, summer dinner theatres, drawings of faces.

cozy nights in my new room, dozens of new books, leggings, purple shoes, saving, snowpaths&angels, firework kisses, born again, discovering musicians, university acceptance, new friends, silly drawings of tins and birds, long winter, gossip girl, short hair.

new years shoes, purple sweaters, silky shirts, pearls and chains, visit from a faraway friend, saying goodbye to friends, poetry, pretty quotes, journals, new recipes, watercolor paintings, mistakes, perfect pens.

i don't know what 2009 is going to hold for me, but i hope it is something wonderful. i've decided not to make a resolution, but to being 101 things in 1001 days. i'm excited to cross things off of my list. i will post it, once i have written all 101 things. i only have 88 things right now, but i'll get to 101. and i will complete it, hopefully!

last night was a night of red kool-aid staining my lips and pretty curls in my hair. seeing friends from all over. smiling and laughing. setting fireworks off in the snowfall. dancing in pretty shoes. leaving snowprints. singing loudly. counting down the new year. taking silly pictures. eating strawberries and cakes and mandarins in chocolate fondu. leaving a trail of sparkle behind me everwhere i go. painting my eyelids with glitter. rosy cheeks. a silver bracelet. a wrist-star. sleeping at a friends house. walking home in the early morning with no traffic, the sky a soft grey, leaving teeny footprints in the freshly fallen snow and breathing in the air of a new day, a new year.

right now i am curled up in my toasty living room with only the christmas lights on, watching the magical big fish and drinking white mint hot chocolate. happy to start a new year. sad to leave home in a week. sneaking tiny misty mints from the candy dish.
there is nothing i would rather be doing.
